A Message from Our Founder

For more than a decade, I have worked closely with refugees, displaced communities, and vulnerable groups across Indonesia. Through these experiences, I have witnessed not only the challenges they face, uncertainty, exclusion, and limited access to basic rights, but also the remarkable strength, dignity, and resilience they carry every day.

These encounters have profoundly shaped my perspective and commitment. They have shown me that beyond immediate protection, there is a need for long-term, sustainable approaches that empower individuals and communities to rebuild their lives with dignity. This belief is what inspired me to establish Resiliensia Institute Indonesia (RRI).

I also want to emphasize that RRI is committed to contributing to community empowerment across Indonesia. In our work, we have seen that refugees remain highly vulnerable, often with limited access to essential services. Many are women at risk and unaccompanied children who face heightened protection concerns. At the same time, many people continue to fall victim to people smuggling and human trafficking, often affecting children and vulnerable women the most. These realities call for stronger, more inclusive, and community-based responses.

RRI aims to be part of that response, an agent of change that not only addresses immediate protection needs, but also strengthens awareness, resilience, and opportunities within communities. We believe that empowering people at the local level is key to preventing exploitation and building safer, more resilient societies.

In addition, we are deeply concerned about disaster risks in Sumatra, particularly in its western regions. Through discussions with experts, we recognize the urgent need to strengthen Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) efforts. Supporting communities with knowledge, preparedness, and awareness of potential disasters is essential to reducing risks and protecting lives.

At its core, Resiliensia is built on a simple yet powerful principle: that every individual, regardless of their circumstances, deserves the opportunity to live with dignity, hope, and the ability to shape their own future.
